Equine influenza has been confirmed in Essex County, Ontario. A Quarter Horse mare used for barrel racing competed at an event in Huron County on May 9-10, 2025 and develop nasal discharge on May 10, 2025. The horse is recovering. The horse's vaccination status is unknown. There is one additional suspected case. The veterinarian is working with the facility manager on voluntary movement restrictions and biosecurity protocols.
