4 out of 5 pregnant broodmares have aborted within the last 4 weeks. None are vaccinated against EHV-1. The farm owner is working with their veterinarian to voluntarily restrict animal movement and implement biosecurity procedures.
EHV-1 infection is immediately notifiable by laboratories to the Office of the Chief Veterinarian for Ontario under the Animal Health Act, 2009.
