ERRATUM (July 19, 2024): Per the Canadian Food Inspection Agency West Nile Virus case definition, this has been declared a possible case.

Possible case of West Nile Virus in Région du Saguenay, Quebec. On June 26, 2024, a 20 year old Quarter Horse mare presented with altered mental state, seemed sedated, facial nerve damage on right and left, head tilted intermittently to the left, very slight proprioceptive ataxia of the thoracic limbs especially. Delayed grasping of food and mastication. No fever. The horse is recovering. The horse was undervaccinated against West Nile Virus and had not received a vaccine in several years.
