West Nile Virus has been confirmed in Dufferin County, Ontario. On September 29, 2024, two Paint mares that shared a paddock developed ataxia. One mare was also hyperaesthetic and had twitching of the muzzle. West Nile Virus was confirmed on October 10, 2024. Both horses have recovered. Both horses were not vaccinated against West Nile Virus. These are the 7th and 8th equine cases of West Nile Virus in Ontario this year.
