Strangles (Streptococcus equi) has been confirmed in Wellington, Ontario. A three year old Quarter Horse filly had a fever for 4
days, then developed purulent nasal discharge and lymph node enlargement
under the jaw. She tested positive for Streptococcus equi by PCR. The horse is recovering.
