Strangles (Streptococcus equi) has been confirmed in Lacombe County, Alberta. On November 23, 2025, a 5 year old mare presented with fever, swollen lymph nodes, and respiratory noise. Infection with S. equi was confirmed on November 25, 2025. The horse is recovering. The horse was vaccinated against S. equi.
