A case of small hive beetle possibly related to the batch of beehives introduced from Ontario in 2020 was confirmed by the Entomology Laboratory of MAPAQ on September 30, 2021 in the only apiary of a beekeeper of the MRC de la Vallée-du-Richelieu(Montérégie). Six adult insects were found in two hives, with four that were in a trap. The beekeeper had bought beehives from the contaminated lot in 2020. The apiary was targeted by the health survey carried out around the case detected in theMRC de Rouville (Montérégie). This is the third case of infestation detected in 2021in the region formed by the MRCs of Vallée-du-Richelieu and Rouville.
