Eastern Equine Encephalitis in Ontario, October 9, 2024

Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) has been confirmed in Lanark County, Ontario. On September 27, 2024, a 13 year old gelding became acutely neurologic. The horse was euthanized on September 28, 2024, when his condition deteriorated and he became recumbent. EEE was confirmed on October 9, 2024. The horse was not vaccinated against EEE. This is the 23rd case of equine EEE in Ontario this year. One additional horse was exposed.
