Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) has been confirmed in Wellington County, Ontario. On July 27, 2025, a 2 year old Warmblood gelding was euthanized after developing a fever (40 C) with acute neurological signs progressing to recumbency. PCR testing was positive for EEE on July 28, 2025. The horse was undervaccinated against EEE. This is the first horse confirmed with EEE in Ontario this year.
