CAHSS AMU/AMR Network

As the health landscape has continued to evolve, so too have the microbes present in our day-to-day environments . With exposure to antimicrobial medicines, many of these bugs have adapted and become more resistant to traditional treatments. CAHSS recognizes that protecting the effectiveness of antimicrobials while caring for the health and welfare of our animal populations is one important component of national antimicrobial stewardship. The CAHSS Antimicrobial Use and Resistance Network provides a forum for governments and industry stakeholders to share information and work collaboratively on safeguarding the effectiveness of antimicrobials.

Canadian Integrated Program for Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance (CIPARS): Data Visualization

CIPARS generates a large amount of detailed data about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in foodborne bacteria and antimicrobial use (AMU). These interactive data visualizations were created to provide an easy-to-use set of tools to help users engage with and navigate the data.

Farmed Animal Antimicrobial Stewardship (FAAST) Initiative

FAAST is a collaborative initiative between the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, government, academic, and industry partners. FAAST aims to improve antimicrobial stewardship in food animals, prepare farmed animal owners and their veterinarians for upcoming policy and regulatory changes, and preserve the efficacy of antimicrobials without compromising animal health or food safety.
