This course is designed to provide a knowledge foundation regarding smallholder swine production. Topics include general health and production practices; approaching the sick pig/herd; performing a diagnostic workup; and vaccination strategies. The course will complement various smallholder manuals that have been produced in different provinces. Additionally, a separate module on the pet pig will be presented as there is always a demand for a practitioner who has some knowledge of pet swine.
