Strangles (Streptococcus equi) in Quebec, April 23, 2024

Strangles (Streptococcus equi) has been confirmed in Centre-du-Québec, Quebec. A 3 year old horse presented with fever and lymphadenopathy in April 2024. This horse is being isolated. There is one additional suspected case. The horse is less than 5 years old, with onset of clinical signs in April 2024. Both horses are affected and alive. A voluntary quarantine is in place.
